We've Made It Official!

We have completed all the necessary paperwork with NC PTA and secured non-profit status!

This is an amazing school with incredible staff, teachers, students, and families and we are excited about the ways we can work together to make it even stronger!

Here is how you can help:

• Please join Carrington’s PTA online https://glcpta.givebacks.com/ Membership is $10 per person.

• You can also donate to the PTA online: Givebacks - Support the causes you care about. Please consider donating if you are able. We are starting completely from scratch.

• Please consider joining or leading a committee. A signup for committees: Committee Sign Up Form. Descriptions are also below. Please know we understand you are all busy and have designed committees to enable volunteers to spend as much (or as little) time as you can realistically give.

PTA goals for the 2025-2026 academic year:

1. Supporting teachers with grants and supplies

   • Our teachers are often paying out of pocket to support students and their classrooms. Our goal is to raise money to give each teacher a grant to spend as they need.
   • We will also support teachers through partnering with the non-profit Crayons2Calcutors which donates supplies to teachers. PTA volunteers will “shop” for supplies from teacher wishlists and deliver them to the school.

2. Staff and teacher appreciation events

   • We will organize activities to show appreciation to teachers and staff during teacher appreciation week May 4-8, 2026.

3. Community support

   • Our advocacy committee has already been working to support our community through a coat drive and stocking the nurse’s station.

4. Beautification efforts

   • We are working to determine needs and organize volunteer opportunities to support our facilities, including our athletic fields.

5. Create a sustainable and strong PTA

   • We will be working behind the scenes to recruit volunteers and ensure we are creating structures that make it easy to pass along PTA responsibilities year to year. Plus, we’ll make sure we remain compliant with standards that ensure our PTA maintains its non-profit status.

Advocacy

• This committee works to support the needs of our community like organizing coat drives - the committee will also work to advocate for NC PTA priorities like resources for schools

Audit

• Chair - Needed
• This is a once-a-year committee to review PTA financial information compiled by the treasurer

Beautification

• Chair - Needed
• This committee will organize efforts in coordination with school leadership to support facility needs which may include landscaping or work on athletic fields

Fundraising

• Chair - Needed
• This committee will lead efforts to raise funds for the PTA

Nominating

• This committee is for active PTA volunteers to recommend officers for the following year

Teacher and staff appreciation

• Chair - Needed
• This committee will plan events and activities to thank the teachers and staff such as coffee carts and lunches
